Natural Science
As a rule, the class of Natural Science begins with a warm-up morning exercise helpful in replacing usual organizational routines of other disciplines. Interesting logic tricks, encoded theme-tasks and games are used here. We activate curiosity by practicing and applying previously acquired skills, knowledge and attitudes to specific life situations. Brainstorming activities, role-playing games, dictations, crosswords, puzzles and problem-solving tasks are just some instruments for that. Together, these activities help not only to revise the previous information, but also to integrate the lesson and ensure a coherent study of the topic.
Solving controversial issues, listing ideas and involving all learners in discussions are some other goals of these lessons. The most effective techniques for that are "Circle of Ideas", "Choose the Position", Euler circles and the method of projects.
Considering the fact that the local natural materials are accessible for elementary school learners, the elements of biology-regional studies are also applied. Learners are acquainted with the minerals available in the Zhytomyr region, flora and fauna of their native land, problems of extracting sunstone in the Olevsk region and the natural dangers associated therewith.
