Education is not about a building. Not about walls. And not about the number of hours on a timetable.

Almost every social institution performs an educational function: family, community, organizations, businesses, art, and media—everything a person interacts with daily.

Living within a cultural environment, combined with upbringing and personal experience, shapes an educated individual. That is why experience cannot simply be transferred—it must be lived. Emotionally, consciously, and through personal participation.

The concept of learning through experience is a core principle at Biotechnological Lyceum "Radowell". For us, a lyceum is an environment for growth. We are preparing students not merely for examinations, but for life.

Being educated means being mature within one’s own environment and culture. It means having the ability to understand and feel, to anticipate and recognize. That is why education continues throughout life, constantly preparing a person for new stages and challenges. It is a prerequisite for societal development, influencing both quality of life and the ability to respond to the global challenges of the modern world.

Since 2022, Biotechnological Lyceum "Radowell" has been a member of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet). For us, it is important to be part of the international educational dialogue and to create an environment where young people learn to think globally while respecting their own culture.

January 24 is celebrated as the International Day of Education. On the eve of the occasion, some of our students and teachers joined the online event “International Day of Education 2026: Youth and Students Leading Education in Crisis-Affected Contexts: Advancing SDG 4 from the Frontlines.” The meeting was held under the auspices of UNESCO and the United Nations and focused on the role of young people in sustaining education during times of crisis.

We also recently had the opportunity to speak with Liz Hilts, a volunteer from the United States, as part of the S.E.L.O. project. Once again, we were reminded that in times of challenges and uncertainty, education remains our foundation. It is education that shapes generations capable of preserving freedom, unity, and humanity—even in the most difficult circumstances.
